How to Write a News Article

News

News is the report of something that has just happened or is happening. It can be in a newspaper, magazine or on television or radio.

News can be about anything that is new or interesting, but it usually includes people and events. It may also be about things that have been going on for a while, such as a cyclone, bush fire, drought or volcanic eruption.

The first step in writing a news article is to choose a story that is interesting and relevant. Selecting a good news topic is essential because it will make your writing flow smoothly and your reader will be engaged.

Begin with a strong lead that will grab and hook your reader right away, like an emotion-evoking headline or an exciting lede. Follow this up with main facts and additional information that will help your readers understand the subject matter and make them want to learn more.

Use the inverted pyramid format to help your reader see the most critical information first. Put the most important facts at the top of your article, and then move on to less important details as you go.

Write your article in chronological order, using active voice and clear, short sentences. Include any facts from your research and quotes from interviewees. Do not use your own opinions but present the facts in an unbiased way so that your readers can form their own conclusions.
