Entertaiment is the ability to be amused, or diverted, which is a key ingredient for happiness. Entertainment evolves in many different forms and is adapted for any scale, from personal entertainment from a vast array of pre-recorded products to a private banquet for two; to celebrations, religious festivals or satire for thousands. Entertaiment has the power to transcend different media and is able to sustain its own evolution by means of creative remix, which ensures continuity and longevity of certain themes, images and structures. The word “entertainment” comes from the Medieval Latin intertenere, which translates to hold inside. The Indo-European root of this word is ten, which also translates to stretch.
